Humanitarian principles

Our work is guided by humanitarian principles, which provide a universal ethical framework for humanitarian assistance. These principles ensure that our interventions are need-based, impartial, and respectful of the rights and dignity of all people.

Humanity

We act to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it is found. We protect life and health and ensure respect for human beings.

Neutrality

We do not take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of a political, racial, religious, or ideological nature.

Impartiality

We provide assistance based solely on need, giving priority to the most urgent cases, making no distinction between people on the basis of their gender, skin color, nationality, religious beliefs, political views, or other factors.

Independence

We operate independently of political, economic, military, or other non-humanitarian objectives.

Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct is a clear expression of our values, responsibilities, and ethical obligations. It serves as a binding agreement to uphold these standards – both to the communities we serve and to each other. It guides the behavior of all staff, volunteers, and partners, wherever they work.

Every staff member receives training on the Code of Conduct and is required to sign it as part of their employment contract. We hold ourselves and each other accountable for upholding these standards at all times.

Feedback and complaints

Occasionally, situations may arise that give cause for concern. It is important that we are made aware of such issues as promptly as possible, so that we can fully understand what has occurred and take appropriate action where necessary. That is why we have established a Complaints and Feedback Mechanism. It’s a safe, confidential, and accessible way for anyone to raise concerns, report misconduct, request information, or provide suggestions for improvement.
