On November 9, Estonian Refugee Council will host an international humanitarian assistance conference featuring representatives of many international organisations at Fotografiska, Tallinn.

The conference focuses on macro-trends in humanitarian action:

  • humanitarian assistance becoming more cash-based;
  • the growing importance of data-based and digitalized approaches;
  • the localisation of response.

The panels will bring together representatives from European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), Norwegian Refugee Council, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Ukrainian NGO Center of United Action and other organisations.

The conference starts with opening remarks by the Director of Estonian Refugee Council, Eero Janson and the Undersecretary for Economic and Development Affairs of Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mariin Ratnik.

The keynote speaker is Juliet Parker, the Director of Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance (ALNAP). ALNAP is a global network of NGOs, UN agencies, members of the Red Cross/Crescent Movement, donors, academics, networks and consultants dedicated to learning how to improve response to humanitarian crises.

The conference will be held in English

This project is supported by ESTDEV – Estonian Center for International Development Cooperation.

The full agenda and registration form can be found here. The registration is open until October 31 or until the maximum number of participants is reached.
