Subprogrammes
Children and youth activities
As part of the community program, we organize children's camps every summer. Both Estonian and refugee children and young people are included in the camps, in order to, on the one hand, ensure that Estonian children have the opportunity to get to know people from a different cultural space, to expand their horizons and to grow tolerance for differences, as well as to give refugee children the opportunity to create new relationships and make friends, and to become braver in the new in the cultural space.
Community events
As part of the community program, we regularly organize group activities (for example, men's and women's groups and an adaptation club) and larger one-off family events. For example, football and disc golf have been played at group events, women's self-confidence workshops have been held, children's opera has been attended, etc. Participating in events and group activities helps support mental health, social and cultural adaptation, creates a sense of belonging, prevents isolation and contributes to further integration.
Language buddies
Language buddies help refugees learn Estonian. You don't have to be a philologist or a teacher to help people from another country learn a language! Language partners support formal language learning through regular language practice in regular language situations. You don't need textbooks or a curriculum, just the will to communicate with one refugee in Estonian once a week. For our part, we provide a little preparation and simple guidelines for being a language partner.
