Russia’s war in Ukraine continues. Innocent people across the country are suffering, and life is particularly difficult for those living near the front lines. On 19 November, it will have been 1,000 days since the full-scale invasion began. War fatigue is noticeable both in Ukraine and in Estonia, and support in the form of donations has significantly diminished. Yet a long, cold winter is approaching.

Attacks on Ukrainians’ homes and the country’s heating and electricity infrastructure persist. This winter, the Estonian Refugee Council is providing winter support in the regions of Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhya, where access to essential services is consistently disrupted, leaving many people unable to keep their homes warm in the cold months.

As part of the 1,000 Days of War, 1,000 Warm Homes campaign the Estonian Refugee Council is collecting donations in November and December to support 1,000 households near the front lines with heating expenses. We need to raise at least 575,000 euros to ensure that people don’t have to face the cold winter months in freezing homes.
