I left behind not only my home, job, friends, land, sky and air, but also my parents and my entire happy life.

We arrived in Estonia at the end of April 2022, from the occupied region of Kherson.

I left behind not only my home, job, friends, land, sky and air, but also my parents and my entire happy life. Communication with my family is not consistent. The internet connection frequently drops, and mobile service is disrupted.

There are times when I don’t know for nearly a month if they are alive because they have no electricity, water, or gas. I know people try to stock up on water, which is now scarce, and, due to the lack of power, they’ve had to throw away stored food that has gone bad. My hometown and its people suffer daily from shelling, destruction, and losses.

Winter is coming, and no one knows how the heating season will go. Will they again need to build stoves outdoors to cook, or will they be able to do it at home? How will they stay warm?

I don’t know when the war will end. The elderly just want to live their lives in peace; they want to see their children and grandchildren. They want to hug them. They just want to know what awaits them tomorrow and the day after.

We all want warm hugs from our families and heartfelt conversations with loved ones! We all want to build happy lives and plan for the future. We all want to see passenger planes in the sky, not military aircraft.id.
