Mission and vision

Our mission is to stand up for the rights and well-being of people suffering from humanitarian crises in Estonia and abroad.

Our vision is a world where people who had to leave their homes feel at home in a new place.

Our values:

  • Humanity our work is based on the humanitarian imperative, i.e., everyone's right to receive help if needed.
  • Innovation and evidence-based – we know our field and always rely on the best available knowledge. Yet, we are also unafraid to experiment and develop new practical solutions to old challenges.
  • Reliability – we always aim to act quickly, professionally, and transparently.

In our work we follow the ethical principles of Estonian NGOs. In gathering and using donations, we follow the good practice of donation gathering. Estonian Refugee Council has been awarded with the volunteer-friend quality badge.

Estonian Refugee Council is a member of European Council of Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations (EMSL) and Estonian Roundtable for Development Cooperation (AKÜ). We have also joined the networks of European Asylum Support Office (EASO) Consultative Forum, ATCR Working Group on Resettlement, European Network Against Racism (ENAR) and International Detention Coalition (IDC).
